Joshua Tree National Park in California protects parts of the Mojave Desert, home to dense Joshua Tree forests amid a wonderland of rocks. Resembling a kooky yet nightmarish Dr. Seuss invention, the Joshua Tree was named by Mormon settlers who likened the yucca to the Biblical Joshua with outstretched arms.
